Raul Perez
Sculptor
Raul was born in Caracas. He graduated as a Civil Engineer from Florida International University (FIU), Florida, USA. From an early age, Raul had the ability to draw cubes and pyramids, showing geometric and spatial skills. One of his childhood dreams, being an artist, became a reality in 2010 when he decided to enter into the art world.
His first piece , called “Providencia”, consisted of a combination of five cubes arranged vertically and inclined in a way that resembled the Pisa Tower. Providencia marked the beginning and the inspiration for more than 2,000 unique pieces created during his uninterrupted career.
Raul possess the talent and skills that allow him to produce pieces while providing the illusion of volume and three dimension originated from two angles that converge and the use of different shades of one color. It is observed that the bodies of the sculptures overlap conspiring against gravity and space. As part of this illusion, each pieces changes depending on the distance and light in which they are observed. Each piece is design and produced by the artist without molds as an artisan, making each one unique.
