Luis Urribarri

Painter

Born in Venezuela and raised in Florida where he obtained an art degree. Luis Urribarri moved to New York City in 2012. Urribarri worked with the major contemporary furniture retailer West Elm for 8 years. His role with the company helped him polish his skills in art, interior design, visual merchandising, and art installation.

His inspiration melds Latin American’s visual references and folkloric techniques with North America’s design and architecture. The result of this combination are pieces that can be defined as both contemporary and abstract art. Urribarri searches for a dialogue between raw and refined, revealed and obscure elements that are significantly distinct from each other yet intertwined by their casual, often surprising placement in our modern world.
