Alexandra Salazar
Painter
Alexandra Salazar, born in Caracas, was deeply influenced by both her grandmothers who were painters. Their presence in her life made her develop her deep appreciation for arts since she was a little girl. She participated in her grandmother’s painting process which made her interested in the creation of art pieces.
She studied Graphic Design at the Design Institute of Caracas in 1990, then she moved to the USA where she enrolled the Art Institute of Dallas and took several art classes.
Back in Caracas, Alexandra found her passion in creating art pieces by using ordinary objects, which through their unique significance and history along with her imagination, acquire a life of their own. For Alexandra, the simplest things in life are those through which we attain the greatest pleasures. The tiny grandma pot, a hot cup of coffee, the chair that offers rest, a bicycle, a piece of luggage, the undisputed trip companion, a sewing machine, among others, are part of our lives and yet we let them become unnoticed and these are rescued in each of her pieces as a testimony of those simple things that can and do become art.
Currently living in the USA, she participated in many courses in the Boca Raton Art School with her tutor Eydi Lampasona.
